Ron Knapp
Secretary General, International Aluminium Institute, USA

 
Ron Knapp was appointed Secretary General of the International Aluminium Institute, London in December 2008.
Prior to this appointment, Ron was the Executive Director of the Australian Aluminium Council from 2002 to 2008.  Previous positions include Chief Executive World Coal Institute (London) from 1997 to 2001 – and the Minerals Council of Australia from 1987 to 1996.  Ron is an economist with experience in both government and private sectors.
The International Aluminium Institute is the global forum of the world's aluminium producers. Through the Institute, the aluminium industry aims to promote a wider understanding of its activities and demonstrate its responsibility in relation to all key sustainability issues - environmental, health, safety and recycling.

Colin Chapman
CEng MIMMM MSc, Senior Consultant, SRK Consulting UK Ltd

Colin Chapman (CEng, MIMMM) is a Senior Consultant (Mine Infrastructure and Logistics) with 16 years of experience in the mining, construction and civil engineering industry.
Colin specialises in development of mine infrastructure and utilities supply (power, water), transport logistics assessments and infrastructure (road, rail, port, marine), and civil geotechnical engineering.
Since joining SRK he has completed various mandates comprising the delivery of feasibility and pre-feasibility studies, scoping studies, technical studies and due diligence reporting for proposed and existing mining projects in accordance with International Reporting Codes. Colin is proficient in the geotechnical design of infrastructure foundations and earthworks, the management of risk, delivery of surveys and specifications. Before joining SRK, he worked for an international civil engineering design consultancy where he led multi-disciplinary project design teams to deliver highway designs and energy infrastructure from scoping level to construction. Prior to this, he was employed by a major mining company.
Colin has worked throughout Africa, Europe and Central Asia on a variety of commodities but in particular iron ore, bauxite, potash, phosphates, gold and base metals.

Hein Krimpenfort has a bachelor degree in mechanical university and more than 30 years of experience in the field of piston diaphragm pumps and their applications in the mining and metallurgical industry. At the moment he is sales manager at German piston diaphragm pump manufacturer at Feluwa Pumps and is responsible for cross border and key accounts in these industries.

Mr. Thomas Baumann holds a degree as chartered engineer in process engineering.
Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Mr. Baumann has been working for more than 25 years in the field of wet-mechanical processing technologies, especially on international projects for classification and processing of ores, minerals and other raw materials.

Educated as a Mechanical Engineer in England he has held senior technical and managerial positions in both Europe and North America.
He is a registered professional engineer on both continents.
Mr Blake is employed by the well-known International firm of ANDRITZ Metals (Part of ANDRITZ AG headquartered in Austria) and is based in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania USA at their Aluminum Furnace technical center where he holds the position of Senior Vice President.

Vikram Handa drives the growth of Epsilon Carbon and has been a key contributor to strategic business planning with experience leading, managing and developing long range growth plan of the company.
He founded Epsilon Carbon in 2010 with a vision to get it recognized as a leader in Coal Tar and carbon products industry and is known for his drive and sense of mission to create world class integrated facility in the field of coal tar chemicals. He has been especially instrumental in setting up the first continuous coal tar distillation plant in India.

C.Sanyal, Graduated in Electronics& Control System Engineering, Qualified in Dip-in-Management from IGNOU and  MBA from  Utkal University.
He joined Damodar Valley Corporation as Instrumentation Enginner and after completing two Years, Joined the then Fertilizer Corporation of India Ltd. He was associated with Erection, Teting & successfully Commissioning of the 600MT/day Ammonia Plant and 1000MT/day Urea Plant under collaboration With Montecatiny of Italy.
After successfully being associated with FCI for a span of 17 Years, he left the company in 1987 to join the then Blue Chip National Aluminium Company in Smelter Division as Incharge (Carbon Area &Cast House) and was involved in successful commissioning of the plant in collaboration with Aluminium Pechiney, France.
After serving for 20 Years, he retired from service as General Manager (O&M) in the year 2007. Mr. Sanyal subsequently joined Himadri Spaciality Carbon Ltd as Consultant (Carbon), was associated with Erection, Testing & Commissioning of Downstream plants and also plant at China. His current role is that of the  Head of Quality Control.

Dr. Chenna Rao Borra

Chenna Rao Borra is currently a post-doctoral researcher at TU Delft, Netherlands. His area of expertise is in extractive metallurgy.  His research interests include recovery of metals from minerals, waste materials and end of life products (recycling).
Borra received a diploma in metallurgical engineering from Govt. polytechnic, Vijayawada followed by Bachelors in metallurgical engineering from Indian Institute of Metals and a Masters in extractive metallurgy from IIT (BHU) Varanasi. After Masters, he worked as a project scientist/engineer for 3½ years at NFTDC, Hyderabad. Then he moved to R&D, Tata Steel (India) and worked as a researcher for 5 years. In 2013, he moved to Belgium to pursue his doctoral degree from KU Leuven and obtained his PhD in June, 2016

Dr. Sanjeev Gupta holds Master of Science in Applied Chemistry and Ph.D. in Chemistry. He has 18 years of experience in industrial research. His expertise includes water & wastewater treatment, hybrid bio-chemical treatment, environmental management, Chemical recovery, New product development etc.
Dr. Gupta was awarded Mecaster Young Scientist Award for the year 2011. He has published more than 35 research papers in national and international journals and presented papers at International conferences at Canada and Chile. He has more than 25 research and consultancy reports to his credit.

An avid problem-solver, Saikat has collaborated in projects with global players such as ArcelorMittal Dofasco, POSCO, Nucor Steel, Hyundai Steel, Tata Steel, Rio Tinto and JFE. He has more than 30 publications in international journals and conferences. He has worked extensively on operational improvement in steel making and refining and continuous casting, using principles of fluid dynamics, computational thermodynamics, pilot scale tests and plant trials.
Apart from being actively associated with organizations such as Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST), Iron and Steel Institute of Japan, Canadian Institute of Metallurgy, Mining and Petroleum, he is a three time winner of the Smith graduate scholarship from AIST and the prestigious US Steel Fellowship in 2016.

H Mahadevan holds a B-Tech (Chemical Engineering)  from Andhra University , MS (Chemical Engineering ) from IIT – Chennai and MBA (Finance) from New Delhi. Has about 40` years Work Experience in Aluminium Industry, especially Alumina Refinery.

He has worked at the Bharat Aluminium Company - Korba, Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Design & Development Centre – Nagpur, Larsen & Toubro – Mumbai, Pechiney Alumina Resources Limited (PARI), Mumbai , BHP Minerals Limited – Bhubaneswar & Anrak Aluminium Limited, Hyderabad.
